Why did you join the Vocalo storytelling workshops?

I’m a public radio fanatic and always wanted to try my hand at the format’s very unique style of storytelling. 

Your piece in 20 seconds:

My piece provides a quick primer on Chicago’s “digital divide” and the details the activities of a new city sponsored program seeking to bridge the divide while simultaneously facing it’s own impending budgetary gap.

Why did you chose to tell this story?

Technology and the Internet have played a vital role in my life and it’s easy to overlook those who’ve never used either due to lack of access and training. I hope this piece will contribute to the growing conversation on these issues for Chicago residents. 

In what ways are you a better storyteller and producer?

The structure of a radio story is a bit different than traditional narratives and learning how to work with both it’s strengths and weaknesses has opened up whole new way of thinking about stories for me.
