Why did you join the Vocalo storytelling workshops?
I joined the storytelling workshop to learn the mechanics of radio and hopefully share those skills with young people in the future.
Your piece in 20 seconds:
My piece is about the dance party Cumbia Sazo and the process of creating a cultural event in a Chicago neighborhood.
Why did you chose to tell this story?
I chose to tell this story because Cumbia Sazo is a small local event that draws people from all over Chicago, and because the music is awesome!
In what ways are you a better storyteller and producer?
I have learned all sorts of new skills, especially when it comes to the technical aspect of radio storytelling. I have also learned that not all great quotes and moments can make it into the piece, but that’s OK!
